i have a big love/hate relationship with under eye patches – all of the them. but how does the goodal tangerine vitamin c moisturizing undereye patch compare?
i love undereye patches because
- make me feel like i’m taking care of myself
- make me feel like i’ve got it together
- feeling the above two items, improves my mood and productivity
- hide my dark circles
i hate undereye patches because
- most are too slippery
- most do not fit my asian eyes
- most irritate my undereyes (my skin cannot tolerate niacinimide)
- don’t hide my dark circles that much because they are largely translucent
what about goodal green tangerine vitamin c moisturizing undereye patch (2024 ed.)?

sorta inconsistent claims
interestingly enough, i could not find any proper claims or descriptions from the official Goodal websites for this product.
- https://goodal.us.com/
so, i checked claims on third-party sites selling or describing the product and they were still not the clearest.

consistently, the product is claimed to be provide radiance and hydration/moisture. however, in one source, there was mention of blemish care. since the purpose of this product is for the undereye, i’m not sure anyone would care for this claim anyway.
we’ll move on.
it was nice to see that in all descriptions, there were mentions of Green Tangerine Extract and Vitamin C. however, the types of vitamin C claims were inconsistent with sources claiming these varying descriptions:
- 10x the amount of Vitamin C found in other citrus fruits
- Vitamin C at a nano-scale (1/2000 of a pore size)
- Vitamin C Alpha Complex*
*Vitamin C Alpha Complex is a marketing term that includes a combination of ingredients.
- Ascorbyl Glucoside – stable Vitamin C derivative
- Arbutin – brightening ingredient that works alongside Vitamin C
- Niacinamide – tone-evening ingredient that works alongside Vitamin C
- Tocopherol (Vitamin E) – antioxidant that works alongside Vitamin C
- Citrus Extracts – for natural Vitamin C and fragrance
- Panthenol or Ferulic Acid – to stabilize and soothe
in addition to the vitamin C claims, key ingredients were features inconsistent, with sources claiming the following varying ones:
- Lavender
- Green Tangerine Extract
- Citrus Ushio Fruit Extract Exosomes
- Same Key Ingredients as the Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum
this might be due to a reformulation of the product around 2024 but, the best way to examine these varying claims is to check out our ingredient list. we’ll look at the Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum ingredients as well, since it was claimed to have the same key ingredients.

what does this mean for the vitamin c claims?
“10x the amount of Vitamin C found in other citrus fruits”
ingredients relevant
- Citrus Tangerina Extract (150 ppm)
- Ascorbyl Glucoside (100 ppm)
- various essential oils (lemon, orange, bergamot), which contain trace Vitamin C only in name, not in functional concentration.
my thoughts:
- “10x the Vitamin C” refers to a Citrus Unshiu (green tangerine) marketing claim popularized by some Korean brands, but our ingredient list specifies Citrus Tangerina, not Citrus Unshiu.
- i did not find any scholarly literature or research on Citrus Tangerina containing 10x more vitamin C than other citrus fruits. i only found this claim in marketing claims for this product.
“Vitamin C at a nano-scale (1/2000 of a pore size)”
ingredients relevant:
- Ascorbyl Glucoside (100 ppm)
my thoughts:
- from my understanding, nano-scale or 1/2000 of a pore implies that the ingredient is incapsulated in liposomes, exosomes, nano-emulsions, but there are no encapsulating delivery systems listed in the ingredient list.
- ascorbyl glucoside is not inherently nano-sized
“Vitamin C Alpha Complex”
ingredients relevant:
- Ascorbly Glucoside
- Niacinimide
- Arbutin
- Adenosine
- Tocopherol
- Citrus Tangerina Extract
my thoughts:
- while this is not in INCI-recognized ingredient and is more of a marketing term describing a blend of brightening actives, this product does contain it!
what about the other key ingredients claimed?
Lavender
listed as Lavandula Angustifolia Oil
Green Tangerine Extract
listed as Citrus Tangerina Extract (150 ppm)
Citrus Unshiu Fruit Extract Exosomes
not listed!
Same Key Ingredients as serum
24 shared ingredients including Niacinamide, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Arbutin, etc. Core brightening complex retained.
did i like it though?
well… this is the big question. i bought a 60 piece container and used about half. so did i like them? a little bit!
based on my “i love undereye patches because…” list:
- they make me feel like i’m taking care of myself
- they make me feel like i’ve got it together
- feeling those two things boosts my mood and productivity
- they did not hide my dark circles
based on my “i hate undereye patches because…” list, these checked two boxes in a good way:
- they were not too slippery
- they did fit my asian eyes
but they also hit one of my “hate” points:
- they irritated my undereyes (my skin cannot tolerate niacinamide)
- and again… they didn’t hide my dark circles much because the patches are quite translucent
let’s talk about it:
1. the material
the patch material is intentionally a bit rough so it stays in place better—and honestly, it worked. they also advertise visible benefits within 5 minutes, so even if they did slip, it wouldn’t have mattered much.
2. the fit
they fit my eyes well, but only when I placed the wider part under my eyes and the thinner tail towards my temples. personally, I don’t think orientation matters much as long as it sits comfortably and does what you need.
3. the irritation
they burned. Not unbearably, but definitely noticeable. when I took them off, my undereyes looked darker/redder than before. this could be my sensitivity to niacinamide, but it could also be the essential oils—both are potentially irritating, especially in an area as delicate as the undereyes. i’m not fully convinced these ingredients belong in an undereye product.
4. coverage
the material is nearly clear, which might be great if you want them to be discreet while wearing them out. tut at home, they didn’t hide my dark circles at all. this is more of a personal preference than a flaw.
5. brand communication
the inconsistent claims and lack of detail on their website made it hard to fully trust the product. that said, running a business is complex, and since Goodal is based in South Korea, there may be gaps in how the information reaches Canadian consumers like me. i don’t think Canadians are their main target demographic right now, but I hope their communication improves.
on a positive note, Goodal is owned by Clio Cosmetics, which reported 24% sales growth—reaching KRW 93 billion (USD $68M) in Q1 2024. with that kind of momentum, I do think better product communication is within reach.
overall
I kind of liked these. I would recommend trying them as long as you’re not sensitive to niacinamide or essential oils!
